We intended to write a post on it but were busy writing about speakers and it slipped past us. I'm glad it's here. Many of our loyal users messaged us about Airfoil shortly after we launched. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is I'd like this app to work in the background, but I think that's out of RA's hands.Īirfoil on your computer is well worth the price, and this app just increases it's flexibility. With this, and RemoteTap, I can pretty much control any media on any of my computers from my iPhone, regardless of the application, and not limited to iTunes.įurthermore, the folks at Rogue Amoeba have always been responsive and helpful with support. It works as seamlessly as Airfoil, and Airfoil Speakers for your computer. They replied more or less to "keep watching" implying that this little gem was on it's way. Last November, I asked Rogue Amoeba if they were considering an app to allow transmission to the iPhone. Airfoil Speakers Touch simply adds more capability to the base application. Airfoil is a good app, well worth the price. Think of this as a terrific new feature for Airfoil.įirst, for you malcontents who think you've been baited, Airfoil has been around since 2005, long before the iPhone, and they've just added this app to allow the base Airfoil application to transmit to the phone or ipod. When I take out the ear buds, I'm listening to the right moment in the music.ĭon't think of it as a complete stand alone application. I was afraid that the audio on the iPhone might not sync with the audio on the express speakers, but everything is perfect. This product works EXACTLY as advertised. Very necessary when washing the dishes or trying to drown out the noise from the renovations across the hall.

The only thing that was missing was the ability to send the audio to my iPhone. (Hey, how come nobody complains that you have to pay for the express units, or the computer, or the web connection?)

I listen to all sorts of web streams using Airfoil to send them to all my airport express units. I have been using Airfoil on my computer for quite a while. If you understand the difference, you will not be unsatisfied with the two products together. The plug-in may be free, but the core program (Photoshop) still costs money.

It is too bad that some people did not understand how the two products work together.Īirfoil Speakers Touch is similar to a free plug-in for Photoshop. However, the product that it hooks up to, Airfoil, does cost $25. Regarding the reviews that say you need to spend $25
